Starbucks is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its iconic Pumpkin Spice Latte (PSL). To mark the occasion, customers who purchase a Pumpkin Spice Latte (hot, iced, or blended) at participating stores in Canada on October 10 will receive a sheet of temporary tattoos, while supplies last. Starbucks has also collaborated with KidSuper Studios to release a limited-edition Team PSL Varsity Jacket, available for pre-order on KidSuper’s website.
On October 10, Starbucks stores will play a curated playlist of popular hits from 2003, the year the PSL was introduced. Some fun facts about the Pumpkin Spice Latte include:
It was first introduced as a trial run in about 100 stores in Vancouver, B.C. and Washington, D.C. in 2003 before launching in the U.S. and Canada the next year.
The PSL has been expanded to include iced versions, such as the Pumpkin Cream Cold Brew and the Iced Pumpkin Cream Chai Tea Latte.
In 2015, Starbucks began using pumpkin sauce made from real puree sourced from kabocha pumpkins.
The Pumpkin Spice Latte was almost named the Fall Harvest Latter (FHL).
Starbucks is also introducing a new collection of Halloween-inspired drinkware, including hot cups and cold cups, available at participating stores for a limited time while supplies last.
